Local businesses supporting sustainability in Penrith via Return and Earn Program
Local Businesses, Community Groups and Schools are invited to partner with Vinnies Penrith to support local sustainability outcomes by recycling drink containers and reducing waste to landfill. Vinnies Penrith manages the Nepean Return and Earn Automated Depot located at Coreen Avenue, Penrith, offering residents and businesses an easy automated drive through service that will sort bottles and cans, processing up to 100 cans per minute.
Why are there woody weed piles in bushland?

150 Years of Penrith City Council
On Tuesday 18 of July 1871, Penrith Council met for the first time. The meeting was chaired by the elected mayor, James J Riley, and there were eight elected aldermen present. This year marks 150 years since this historic beginning.
An easement is a legal right to access and use land to benefit either another parcel of land, person or a prescribed authority. An easement is created over part of the land and is recorded on the Certificate of Title.

Some problem waste items can’t be disposed of in your household bins for safety and environmental reasons. To ensure that we are sending problem waste to the right place and protecting our environment, Council has partnered with RecycleSmart to provide Penrith residents with a “from your door” collection service for items like soft plastics, e-waste and textiles.

Werrington Tennis and Futsal Courts
Werrington Tennis Courts, in Parkes Avenue, are available 365 days a year, from 7.30am to 10pm. There are 2 hard acrylic courts and lights. Access to the toilet facilities is not guaranteed for online bookings during the trial period, but there are toilets available at the nearby Rance Oval amenities block during weekdays. There is no office or shop on site.

ROAM Festival injects $41 million into Penrith economy
Locals flocked to ROAM Penrith late last year, with the festival held on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November.
This new event from Penrith City Council gave attendees a chance to explore the sights, sounds and tastes of the Penrith CBD in High Street between Masters Place Car Park and Triangle Park, with a range of entertainers, hands-on workshops and art installations delighting people of all ages. Attendees were treated to an immersive experience as they adventured through the event space, with the 2 day event injecting $41.7M into the Penrith economy with dining and entertainment venues, and retail stores benefiting from the increased foot traffic into the CBD.

Penrith Council has teamed up with the Sydney Zoo in Western Sydney for an innovative project involving the collection of branches and shrubs containing leaves, barks and shoots from both native plant and weed species to provide additional snacks for the zoo’s animals. Habitat Restoration Event Series
The Habitat Restoration event series focuses on eight bushland reserves within the Penrith Local Government Area (LGA) which contain one or more threatened flora species. We’re inviting community members and volunteers to come along and plant trees and remove weeds to help restore habitat in these areas.
Seven-storey ‘medi-hotel’ to be built in Kingswood
Council has approved plans for a seven-storey ‘medi-hotel’ in Kingswood, with 140 rooms, food and beverage options, rooftop seating and three basement levels with 63 parking spaces. The $34 million development will be built at 28-32 Somerset Street, directly opposite Nepean Hospital.
