Penrith City Council welcomes the announcement of the flight paths today, which brings the opening of the new Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport one step closer.
The flight paths provide more detail to allow the community to understand how the Airport will operate once aircraft movements commence in late 2026.
WSI Airport brings great opportunities for our City through increased jobs, infrastructure and investment. Council looks forward to the release of the Environmental Impact Statement to further understand the plans to mitigate the impacts on residents and the environment.
Council will continue to assess all information to get a clearer picture of what it will mean for our community and encourages all residents to get informed about the fight path related to their address through the Government online tool at wsiflightpath.gov.au. We’d also encourage residents to attend one of the Australian Government’s information sessions and participate online during the consultation period to have their views heard on the draft flight path plans.
Quotes to be attributed to Penrith Mayor Tricia Hitchen:
“The Penrith community is excited by today’s announcement of the flight paths as it brings the opening of the new Western Sydney International Airport one step closer.”
“The investment in Western Sydney International Airport and associated infrastructure is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to provide a range and diversity of jobs for our residents closer to home both now and into the future.”
“Council looks forward to the release of the Environmental Impact Statement so that it can be considered alongside today’s announcement.”
“Council will be sharing information about the Australian Government’s planned community information and feedback sessions when they become available to ensure that our residents are informed and have an opportunity to have their say.”
“Council looks forward to the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) being released later this year and we will continue to advocate on behalf of our community.”
“Council will be reviewing and making a submission when the EIS opens as well.”
