Penrith City Council is transforming an undeveloped site in Claremont Meadows into a state-of-the-art indoor multi-sports arena.
The site is located on Putland Street next to the Gipps Street Recreation Precinct, less than 2kms from the M4 Motorway and a 5-minute drive from the new St Marys metro line.
It will become a premier destination for local, regional, state and national sporting competitions, events and casual recreation.
The indoor multi-sports arena will be designed to cater to a diverse range of sports and recreation activities with:
- 10 multi-sport courts to accommodate a range of sports such as netball, basketball, volleyball, futsal and others. One of these courts will be a show court with retractable seating.
- 6 squash courts with movable walls to allow for flexibility of use.
- additional courtside seating for 150 spectators.
- multi-use rooms for casual recreation and organised programs such as yoga, dance, martial arts, and special events.
- outdoor rink for roller-skating and roller sports.
- change rooms, offices and meeting rooms.
- cafe, lounge area, gym, amenities, first aid room and storage space.
- car parking and bus drop off areas.
- outdoor spaces for walking, basketball and casual recreation.
- outdoor lighting and landscaping.
- shared paths.
This project is critical to address the significant gap in indoor sports facilities in the local government area and will position Penrith as the leading destination for sport and recreation in Western Sydney.
The indoor multi-sports arena project is funded by a grant through the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program.
