There is so much happening at Real Festival and large crowds are anticipated throughout the weekend. We suggest you plan your travel ahead of time so you don’t miss a moment of the action.
You’ll find lots of useful information here on public transport options, shuttle buses, parking as well as important road closures to minimise traffic and keep everyone safe. There are also accommodation options so you can make the most of your weekend in Penrith. Make sure you keep up to date with what’s happening with the event by connecting with Real Festival on Facebook and Instagram.
Road Closures
To minimise traffic and keep patrons safe, Tench Avenue will be closed to northbound traffic between Jamison Rd and Cross Rd from 2pm on Friday 20 September through to 11pm Saturday 21 September. Tench Avenue will remain open for southbound traffic entering from Jamison Rd. To view this road closure as well as access information and maps, visit Live Traffic NSW
Parking
Parking is limited and we recommend public transport as first option of travel.
Festival parking is located adjacent to the Eastbank restaurant precinct and accessed from Tench Avenue via Jamison Rd. Once the car park is full, all cars will be directed to park at Penrith Train Station, Emu Plains Station and Jamison Park (Penrith District Netball Association car park on Batt St, opposite Parsons Avenue) to catch the free Busways shuttle buses to Real Festival. There are a limited number of accessible car spots available at Tench Reserve.
Pick up/Drop off
Limited Festival parking is available at:
- Tench Reserve via Jamison Road, near the Eastbank Restaurant precinct.
A limited number of accessible car spots available at this location. Keep your eye on Real Festival social channels for ‘car park at capacity’ notifications throughout the Festival.
- Shuttle Bus stops: Jamison Park, Penrith and Emu Plains Stations
If you do decide to drive, we recommend carpooling!
Shuttle Buses
Leave the car at home and catch a free shuttle bus! Busways shuttle buses will operate on a continuous loop across Friday and Saturday. The shuttle buses are accessible and can accommodate prams, strollers, wheelchairs and mobility aids. The drop off and pick up locations are located at Penrith Train Station (Stand E), Emu Plains Train Station (TBC), Jamison Park at Batt Street (opposite Parsons Avenue) and at the Festival, Tench Reserve.
The drop off and pick up locations are:
- Penrith Train Station
- Emu Plains Train Station
- Jamison Park
- at the Festival site, Tench Reserve.
Shuttle buses will run continuously throughout the festival times.
Public Transport
There are public transport options to get you to Real Festival at Tench Reserve. Public transport is a quick and effective option, but best of all by catching public transport you’re thinking sustainably and we really like that. The closest railway stations are Penrith or Emu Plains, both offering free shuttle buses on a continuous loop, thanks to our proud sponsor, Busways
The real-time trip planner at transportnsw.info can help you plan your travel to Tench Reserve by train, bus and on foot using the most up-to-date service information.
Walk or Cycle
Live locally or prefer to get your steps up? Real Festival welcomes walkers and cyclists to the Festival site. Please check distance and route options via your preferred map provider. We recommend allowing plenty of time and taking the scenic route crossing the Yandhai bridge from Emu Plains station, or the M4 bridge to take in the gorgeous views of the Nepean River.
Resident Access
Residents have full access to their properties throughout Real Festival. Please expect changed traffic conditions in the area between Friday 20 and Saturday 21 September. Tench Avenue is closed to northbound traffic from 2pm on Friday 20 September through to 11pm on Saturday 21 September (at event times only), however residents can access their properties from Jamison Rd. If you're a resident of Tench Avenue and you'd like to talk to someone about access during Real Festival, please call 4732 7777.
