Harold Corr Oval is the first synthetic athletics track located in the Penrith LGA. It is available for hire by schools, organisations, coaches, and sporting clubs for training and competition purposes.

As an all-weather synthetic track - this means that, rain, hail or shine, your carnival or event can go ahead.

Parking

Harold Corr Oval has a 65-space carpark, including three accessible car spaces. The car park entrance is off Herbert Street. Street parking is also available.

Car park opening and closing hours:

Mon – Fri 8am – 10pm
Weekends 8am – 7pm
Please note: the carpark will be locked outside opening hours.

Rubbish

It is the responsibility of the Hirer to remove all rubbish from the field, track & outer areas in the bins provided. Any additional cleaning charges incurred by Council will be forwarded to the Hirer.

Reporting Maintenance or Damage

Please report any maintenance issues or damage to Council via the Online Services Portal at my.penrith.city or contact the Customer Service line on (02) 4732 7777.

General Community Recreation

The community is welcome to use the facility for general athletic recreation and unorganised activities during daylight hours when there are no booked activities or scheduled training taking place. 

Local clubs

Werrington Little Athletics Centre relocated back to the facility in 2023. They will continue to use Harold Corr Oval as their home base for 2024 and beyond.

Track Access

Harold Corr Oval is currently available for public use at the following times:

WINTER

  • Monday to Friday 7am to the end of daylight (unless booked)
  • Saturday 7am to end of daylight (unless booked)
  • Sunday ALL DAY

SUMMER

  • Monday to Thursday 7am to the end of daylight (unless booked)
  • Friday 7am to the end of daylight (unless booked)
  • Saturday 1pm to end of daylight (unless booked)
  • Sunday ALL DAY

Available times for general public use may vary to accommodate bookings and seasonal club activities.

Harold Corr Oval is open for School Athletics carnivals and School Sport sessions. The track's all-weather surface means your athletics carnival can proceed in most weather conditions.

School Carnival Bookings

The Recreation team will review your booking request. If further information is required, the recreation team will contact you directly.

Risk Assessment

Site Risk Assessments are the responsibility of the user and must be carried out prior to the commencement of all activities. All Hirers should complete the assessment prior to their booking.

Book a school sport / P.E. session

School Sport sessions may be conducted at the facility from 9am to 3pm.

When Harold Corr Oval has been booked by clubs, schools and private groups for major events, the hirer has exclusive use of the facility, and members of the public must co-operate with any requests to relocate or vacate the facility.

All booking requests are to be made through Penrith City Council.

To make a booking ensure you complete the Casual Booking Form (this is not a booking confirmation). You will be contacted within 10 business days to discuss the availability, cost and to confirm the date of your booking.

All trainers and coaches working at Harold Corr Oval must be accredited with Athletics NSW or Athletics Australia. This applies to independent trainers, plus those working with groups who regularly use the track.

The Hirer must provide Council with a copy of their Certificate of Currency for public liability, with a limit of indemnity of not less than twenty million dollars ($20,000,000), noting Council’s interest for the period of the use at Harold Corr Oval.

Cancellation of bookings must be made by the Hirer in writing to the Council. If a booking is cancelled more than 7 days before the scheduled activities the hire fee will not be charged. If the booking is cancelled less than 7 days before the scheduled activities, the full amount of hire fee will apply.

Ground closures do not apply this facility. Any decision to postpone, cancel, or continue an event due to weather will be at the discretion of the hirer, considering the field's condition, potential damage, and duty of care to participants. The hirer must conduct their own safety assessment to ensure the event can proceed. If weather affects your event, please contact Penrith City Council at (02) 4732 7930 or email to discuss rescheduling to the next available date.

All facility users must adhere to the Conditions of Use including prohibited activities, and any Council officer directions to prevent damage and to prolong the life span of the synthetic facility.

The following conditions of use must be adhered to:

  • You enter and use this facility at your own risk
  • All groups and organised sporting activities need to book with Council before use.*
  • Council reserves the right to book the oval at any time.
  • Event & Seasonal Bookings take precedence; members of the public must vacate the oval during events activities.
  • Children under the age of 10 years must be closely supervised by an adult (16 years and over) Hirers are responsible for conducting a risk assessment to determine the suitability of the facility for training & competition. 
  • Approved Footwear ONLY
    • Flat sole surface footwear
    • Spikes must be Christmas Tree or Pyramid conical in shape
      • 7mm Max. for running events
      • 9mm for jump and throw events

The following are not permitted within the synthetic track fencing:

  • No ‘Needle’ spikes
  • No Heeled Shoes
  • No Dogs or Animals (on or off leash)
  • No Unauthorised Vehicles
  • No Gym Equipment (including training sleds)
  • No Food, Drink (water permitted) or Chewing Gum
  • No Bikes, Skateboards or Scooters

What does Harold Corr Oval feature?

Harold Corr Oval features:

  • Synthetic athletics track, certified by World Athletics as a Class 2 facility.
  • 400m eight-lane track.
  • 100m ten-lane front straight.
  • 100m eight-lane back straight.
  • 6 x long jump/triple jump pits (2 x training, 4 x competition).
  • 2 x high jump facilities.
  • Steeplechase water jump facilities.
  • Dual multi directional pole vault runways.
  • 1 x discus cage.
  • 1 x hammer cage / discus cage.
  • 2 x shot put circles.
  • 2 x javelin runways.
  • 200 LUX competition floodlighting and 100 LUX training floodlighting.

Please Note: the following features are ONLY available for general training and community use during daylight hours:

  • 400m track (lanes 3 - 8 ONLY)
  • 100m front straight (lanes 3 – 10 ONLY)
  • 100m back straight (lanes 3 – 8 ONLY) 2

There will be no equipment available onsite for general training or community use. Coaches are required to bring their own.

Frequently Asked Questions

The track is available for use by the general public outside of “club” training hours, Little Athletics events, Athletics NSW events, School groups and any other bookings.
