Chemical CleanOut Event
Bring your household chemical waste to The Kingsway Playing Fields car park between 9am and 3:30pm on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May.
Penrith! Let’s continue to work together to keep the community safe by bringing your household chemical waste to the Chemical CleanOut Event
Here's what you need to do:
- Label Your Chemical Waste: Clearly mark each type of chemical waste so our team knows where it should go.
- Pack Safely: Securely pack your items into the trunk of your car or trailer.
- Bring to The Kingsway Playing Fields: Head overdown to the event location.
- Stay in Your Vehicle: Our friendly team will unload your items without you needing to exit your vehicle.
- Seal and Label: Please seal and label items to aid in recovery efforts.
Why Proper Disposal Matters
It's crucial to dispose of chemical waste correctly:
- Safety First: Improper disposal risks harming our garbage collectors and exacerbating the flammability and toxicity of potential fires.
- Protect Wildlife: Incorrect disposal can harm wildlife, especially if chemicals leach into the environment.
- Prevent Water Contamination: Pouring chemicals down the sink can contaminate groundwater and surface water, endangering ecosystems.
- Promote Recycling: Many chemical materials can be recycled or reused, reducing waste and pollution while enhancing resource recovery efforts.

The CRC is located at Gate 3, 96 Dunheved Circuit, St Marys. It's open Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 2 pm and Saturdays from 8 am to 12 pm, closed on Sundays and public holidays.
Additionally, you can drop off fluorescent lightbulbs and household batteries at the small CRC stations at Penrith, St Marys, and St Clair libraries. Please ensure battery terminals are covered with tape before disposal for safety.
