Free child car seat safety checks

Penrith City Council will offer free child restraint safety checks to local residents in May 2023. The checks will be undertaken by an authorised Child Restraint Fitter. 

 

Australian law requires children travelling in cars to be secured in approved restraints, which means children: 

• younger than 6 months must be secured in a rear-facing restraint 

• 6 months to 4 years must be secured in a rear or forward-facing restraint 

• 4 to 7 years must be secured in a forward-facing restraint or booster seat 

• younger than 4 years must travel in the back seat of a vehicle with 2 or more rows. 

 

A 15-minute safety check will give you peace of mind next time you hit the road. You’ll get your car seats checked by a professional and get the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about driving safely with kids.

What to bring: Customers should bring gated buckle, straps or other accessories that came with the child restraint.  

 

Should customers be unwell, have cold or flu symptoms please cancel your appointment. The health and safety of our youngest and most vulnerable road users is very important. If you are sick please stay at home.
