A new pathway on Nepean Avenue is improving the safety and connectivity of Penrith’s Great River Walk.
The popular Great River Walk loop around the Nepean River is now safer, more connected, and more enjoyable with the completion of the pedestrian pathway on Nepean Avenue.
The new pathway is located on the western side of Nepean Avenue, between Tench Reserve and Memorial Avenue, and features bollards at key intervals to provide a physical and visual separation between the road and pedestrians.
The project has also created a safer environment for cyclists with new traffic-calming bands added to the road to send visual and tactile cues to road users about appropriate speeds and behaviours
Trees were planted along the pathway to enhance amenity, provide natural shade and help keep the city cool.
This project was funded by the NSW Government in association with Penrith City Council.
