Electronic Waste Drop-Off Day March 2024 – The Kingsway Playing Fields, Werrington
Do you have unwanted, broken or old electronic items you’ve been waiting to dispose of correctly?
Pack these into the boot of your car and take them to The Kingsway Playing Fields car park in Werrington on Saturday, 16 March, for our free drop-off day, and they will go to the right place to be recycled or reused.
E-waste is growing at three times the rate of other waste. It is important to dispose of your electronic items thoughtfully, to be recycled or reused when they’re broken or no longer needed. Our E-waste Drop-off Day is the perfect opportunity for you to pack up your old, broken, and unwanted electronic items and bring them to The Kingsway Playing Fields car park in Werrington.
What do I have to do on the day?
All you have to do is pack your items into the boot of your car or trailer and bring them down to The Kingsway Playing Fields. The friendly staff will remove it from your vehicle; please stay in the car as it is a contactless event.
Why is it important to dispose of your e-waste in the right place?
Sending e-waste to landfill takes up huge amounts of unnecessary space and poses a risk to the environment and wildlife, as some components of items can be toxic. Taking your e-waste to the right place guarantees that it is disposed of correctly and safely. It also ensures that items are disassembled, sorted, and recovered, as some contain valuable materials that can be reused again.
What kind of items can I bring?
We accept any electrical item with a cord or battery*.
*Where possible, please remove any batteries and dispose of them at your nearest battery drop-off point. Batteries can be dropped off for free at the collection stations at Penrith City Library’s Branches or Penrith Community Recycling Centre. Click here for more information about responsible battery disposal.
