Dementia Action Week: Dance for Dementia Prevention
In celebration of Dementia Action Week, Penrith City Libraries is hosting a seniors dance class run by Creative Caring - specialists in dance for those living with dementia and for dementia prevention.
This carefully designed dance class is specifically aimed at improving physical and cognitive function in seniors. Dance classes can reduce neuropsychiatric symptoms such as depression, anxiety and agitation as well as improve strength and mobility.
Prevention is better than cure and dance has been proven to enhance quality of life as well as develop social cohesion and awareness in a group setting.
Creative Caring offers sessions in a secure and lively environment that supports enjoyment, new challenges and highlights the crucial role of social interaction in combating isolation.
The session is free, but bookings are essential.
Dementia Action Week (Monday 16 September – Sunday 22 September) encourages everyone to learn more about dementia.
