Adopt a Tree
We’re giving residents within the Penrith LGA the opportunity to ‘adopt’ semi-mature bush tucker trees to help increase tree canopy across the City.
The trees available to ‘adopt’ through the Adopt a Tree program were grown locally at the Penrith Council Nursery. Bookings are essential to secure your trees and pick-up timeslot.
Why tree planting?
Planting trees is one of the easiest and best ways to reduce the impacts of heat. While Penrith has seen a significant increase in tree canopy over the last few years — even establishing itself as a leader among other local government areas — we still have suburbs that are low canopy and susceptible to heat during the hotter months.
Planting on private property is a great way to not only improve the amenity of our suburbs, but a fantastic way to ensure our streets and homes are cool during summer.
What are the benefits of planting trees in this area?
Increasing greenery on private property can:
- provide shade and help passively cool homes during summer
- attract birdlife and pollinator species to your garden
- improve and support Penrith’s unique biodiversity
- produce food
How do I participate?
