Help Shape the Future of Penrith and St Marys After Dark

Penrith City Council has taken a significant step toward transforming its strategic centres into vibrant, round-the-clock destinations with the introduction of the Draft OPEN: Penrith and St Marys 24-Hour Economy Strategy 2025–2029.

Endorsed at Council’s Ordinary Meeting on April 28, this Strategy outlines an ambitious vision to activate and grow a safer, more dynamic night-time economy in Penrith and St Marys.

By positioning Penrith and St Marys as potential destinations for dining, entertainment, and social connection, the Strategy aspires to create a more vibrant night-time economy. A 24-hour economy is important for our City’s future by generating more jobs close to home, more revenue for businesses and a more captivating after dark experience for residents and visitors. penrith day3 lowres 245

The upcoming Public Exhibition period will provide an essential opportunity for the community to share their thoughts and suggestions, ensuring that the final strategy reflects the needs and aspirations of those who live and work in our City. The Council looks forward to engaging with the community as we work together to shape the future of Penrith and St Marys.

From Monday 5 June until Friday June 13 2025 the Strategy’s public exhibition will allow local businesses, investors, and residents to contribute feedback and help shape the future of the city’s after-hours economy. By completing the survey, you can go into a draw to win one of ten $50 vouchers redeemable at selected local restaurants.

As part of the public exhibition, Council will host a business forum on Friday 23 May to brief industry leaders and local businesses on the strategy, highlight the existing trends for the 24 Hour Economy in Sydney, and create an opportunity to hear from local businesses. If you're a local business with an interest in attending please complete the registration form.

This Strategy is a key initiative under Council’s broader economic growth agenda and signals a strong commitment to fostering a thriving local economy that operates well beyond business hours.
