Cicadas are large, stout insects with round bulging eyes on the corners of their heads, and short, bristly antennae and they happen to live right in your garden! They also have sucking mouthparts, like a vacuum, that attach at the base of their head.
To make your own cicada, you will need:
- Leaves, sticks, gumnuts
- Body (we’ve cut this one out of green paper)
- Glue
To make your cicada:
- Go on a nature walk and gather some natural items.
- Cut out your cicada body from paper.
- Stick leaves on as wings, sticks as feed and antennae, and eyes.
