Seed Group

seed collection group 1 seed collection group 2

When: Every second Thursday of the month.

Time: 9am to 12pm.

Meeting location: Various locations.

This passionate team is responsible for collecting and processing native seed for use by Council’s Nursery.

Through summer, autumn and spring, the Group meets at a variety of stunning local Council reserves to harvest native seeds for Council projects.

When the seed collecting season winds down, the action continues in winter at the Council Nursery, where the team gathers to process, clean and store the seeds for propagation. It’s a satisfying behind the scenes process that transforms tiny seeds into future trees, shrubs, and groundcovers.

Each reserve tells a different story, so come along to discover the unique plants, landscapes, and ecosystems that make our region so special. It’s a great way to learn more about native species, contribute to conservation, and enjoy the outdoors without getting too dirty.
