Microchipping and Pet Education Day

We’re microchipping cats and dogs for free!

We’ll also be offering free pet health checks and engraved ID tags for pets. The event is open to Penrith residents.  

We will only be microchipping cats and dogs. 

No appointments are necessary. Please make sure that your dog is on a lead and your cat is secure in a carrier. 

About microchipping 

Microchipping your pet is an important part of their care. If they ever wander away, vets, animal shelters and our Rangers can scan their microchip and reunite you with your friend.  

Why microchip? 

The microchip contains information such as your name, address and best contact phone number, which is why it’s important to make sure that if you move or change your phone that you update your pet’s microchip, too. 

This identifying information will be used to reunite you with your pet if they are ever lost. 

What happens when a pet is microchipped?

Microchipping is a simple and quick procedure and involves a small chip the size of a rice grain being implanted in the back of the neck above the shoulder blade.
