Rusty Penny Brewery in Penrith may serve most of its beers on tap, but their customers can enjoy their wares in glass bottles.
The Dean Place brewery import specialist reusable containers called squealers and growlers that customers are encouraged to bring back for refill – a sustainable, low waste option.
Rusty Penny was opened in December 2018 and is the brain child of two Cranebrook locals Matt and Mark.
The idea for Rusty Penny grew out of Matt and Mark’s home brew supply business, All Things Homebrew, and taps into the craft beer craze.
Rusy Penny brew their beers on a 200 litre system, which gives them an opportunity to experiment and give customers, who can taste the products on site, a wider sampling range of up to 12 different beers, including an Australian Pale Ale, Stout, American Pale Ale, Pils and Sessions Ale.
Matt and Mark said Rusty Penny was hitting a new sector in the local market and is part of a growing food and drink scene in Penrith.
“As locals we can relate to our client base,” Matt said. “We knew people were looking for Penrith to grow and offer more – to become more like the inner city suburbs. Until now they’ve had to travel for things like microbrewies, but we’re bringing that dream home.”
Rusty Penny partners with other local businesses, including Mr Watkins, and is one of the local businesses working with Council on an upcoming Penrith Producers event.
