The Kingswood Commuter Car Park project was funded by the Australian Government through the Infrastructure Investment Fund. The Australian Government has undertaken an independent strategic review of its Infrastructure Investment Program to determine the merits of continuing with its federally funded infrastructure projects.  

This review concluded on 16 November 2023 with the Australian Government advising that the Kingswood Commuter Car Park project will no longer receive federal funding, which was essential for the continuation of the project.

Penrith City Council is the landowner of 6 Cox Avenue Kingswood which was the proposed site for the Commuter Car Park and may explore new opportunities for the site in the future.
