St Marys and Penrith are experiencing significant growth in their 24-hour economy, according to the recent NSW Night-Time Economy Report.
St Marys is leading the charge, showcasing a remarkable 21% increase in core-night-time businesses, the third highest in the Sydney region and significantly outperforming Sydney Inner City.
Penrith also performed well with 15% growth. This combination of increased business activity and consumer engagement paints a picture of a rapidly evolving night-time scene in St Marys, with potential for further economic development and diversification.
This surge in businesses reflects the growing demand for diverse night-time activities and experiences, with residents and visitors increasingly embracing the quality local bars, restaurants and entertainment venues. This trend indicates a preference for vibrant local options, reducing the need for lengthy commutes to eastern suburbs.
With the recent endorsement of the St Marys Town Centre Master Plan and the public exhibition of the Draft OPEN: Penrith and St Marys 24-Hour Economy Strategy, Council is laying the groundwork to unlock the full potential of both centres—set to be connected to the new airport via the metro—as thriving hubs for food, entertainment, arts and culture, supporting a growing community of residents, visitors, and airport workers.
