Food Vendors Trading at Events

Who does this apply to?​

Mobile food vending vehicles and temporary food stalls trading at organised events i.e., fetes, markets, large scale events etc.​

​Requirements​

Council requires all temporary food vendors—including food stalls and mobile food vending vehicles—intending to trade at events within the City to obtain a Temporary Food Permit issued by Penrith Council.

​Apply for a Temporary Food Permit​

Applications must be submitted online via the Council's website https://eprop.penrithcity.nsw.gov.au/eProperty.

Select:

• Submit an application
• Tick the Terms and Conditions
• Select Continue
• Select Application for annual temp food vendor permit.

Relevant supporting documents must be provided with your application. Council will review all submitted information. It is your responsibility to ensure that all details and documentation are accurate, up to date, and complete.

What you’ll receive after applying​

Once your application has been submitted, you will receive a confirmation email along with an invoice for payment received.

After your application and supporting documents have been reviewed and approved, you will be issued an Annual Temporary Food Permit Certificate via email. This certificate will include your unique Temporary Food Premises (TFP) number which is valid for the financial year.

Your obligations

Provide a copy of your Annual Temporary Food Permit Certificate to the event organiser. The organiser will notify Council of your attendance at the event.

Note: Council no longer issues single event permits to food vendors.

Inspections, fees and compliance

The annual permit fee, set in accordance with Council’s adopted Fees and Charges, includes one inspection within the current financial year. Council’s Fees and Charges can be viewed at Rates, Payments & Fees.

If an additional inspection or reinspection is required throughout the financial year due to food safety breaches under the Food Act 2003 and Food Regulation 2015, an additional fee may apply.

Non-compliances identified during an inspection may result in warnings, enforcement action and/or cancellation of the permit.

Changes to your business details

You must notify Council if any of the following details change:

• Business name
• Contact details
• Food types being sold
• Food Safety Supervisor details
